The Smart Card Simulator by Wolfgang Rankl Version: 0.9.2, September 24, 1996 Copyright 1996 by Wolfgang Rankl, Munich The Smart Card Simulator is a program for Windows 3.1 / 95 to simulate a terminal and a smart card. With this software you can see "into" the smart card, create files, send commands and receive it from the smart card. To make you the life as easy as possible and use in addition to the "official" name as ICC ("ISO-slang" for integrated chip card) for the more common words like smart card. The Smart Card Simulator offers you a wide variety of possibilities to learn and work with a smart card. Purpose: The intention of this software is to give interested persons the possibility to work and learn with smart cards. Neither a smart card or a smart card terminal is needed. You have only to install the software on your PC and can start work with smart cards. There are also some demonstration applications, so you can start working immediately after installing. If you have designed your application you can contact a smart card manufacturer and ask for real smart cards. I implemented only standardised smart card commands so that this should be possible in most of the cases. You can use this program it for learning, working teaching and it will grow with you. Hardware: You need a PC, which runs under Windows 3.1 or Windows 95. Use Windows 95 for best results. The graphic adapter must support at least 16 colours and a resolution of 640*480 which means VGA. The program could be used on a VGA 640*480*16 graphic display, but I recommend to use a display with a resolution of 800*600 or higher, because it is much easier to work with the simulation. I tried the software on a 386/25 MHz PC with 8 Mbytes and it works, but very slow. I suggest to use PC with 486 processor or higher. Software: Windows 3.1 or Windows 95 (prefered). The Smart Card Simulator needs 4,7 Mbyte space on your hard disk.
